My favorite heron, the Reddish Egret. These were shot at Tigertail Beach in Florida. This bird was on the other side of the lagoon and the rising tide made it too risky to wade over to it, water would have been about chest deep. Just as I was leaving the bird flew over near me and posed for a few shots. I was hoping for action but instead got a nice display of plumage.

Thanks very much everyone, greatly appreciated.

Jason, no these were from last year. I had forgot all about them, I had a pretty unremarkable first-time visit to Tigertail. I did find a nice Burrowing Owl location nearby.

Terrific shots Steve, and I totally agree, this bird is so attention grabbing and so photogenic. I wish I had shots like that on my disk I could just forget I had ;) And these have that classic Nighthound-esque look to them. Sweet.
