Canon has changed up their loyalty program.

So here are some things that have changed:

No more percentage discounts. It's a discount based on that particular model.
All cameras and lenses are in the program, new and refurbished.

I discussed the program with a Canon rep and just talked about the 5D III.

Here are the updated prices with discounts

refurb

5d iii = $2179.30 + tax
5d iii - 24-105 = $2659.20 + tax

new 5d iii + extra battery + camera bag (Gadget Bag 2400) + HDMI cable + 32 SD card = $2439

5D III + 24-105 - + extra battery + camera bag (Gadget Bag 2400) + HDMI cable + 32 SD card = $3039 + tax

I asked about some of the powershots and rebels and the discounts aren't that great.

thanks for the info.

the CLP price ($2179.99) on the body only is $120 less than the Canon Price Watch (CPW) "arranged street price" with an authorized US dealer ($2,299.99).

there have been a handful of deals on fleabay for imports at $1,999.99

the trend is our friend...

I feel like the CLP used to have some good deals, but as the above poster mentioned, you can often find better deals on new equipment. And I think CLP charges tax and shipping, which some online resellers don't.

I called them this week about a refurbished lens. I was offered another $20 off the refurbished price. Meh.

With great options like CPW and Greentoe, the CLP is definitely an afterthought now.

I called about my S95 today and was offered no additional discount on the S110 refurb which is going for $129 on Canon's own site right now. I can get $15 off a new S120 though which brings it down to $385. Woohoo?

So what I am curious about is whether I could trade in my 5DII for a refurb 6D?

Taking photos with a fancy camera does not make me a photographer.

If the "New" program still requires a trade in camera I think you would do better to sell the 5DII and buy a broken/for parts only point & shoot to trade in.

The old program did not give any more for more expensive cameras than for film point & shoots.

I would call the Canon Loyalty Program and ask them. In the past it was a free 800 call.

That's too bad. I wonder why they made the change.

Missed this thread. New programs sounds like a definite downgrade.
