Lightroom can't fix the lost SNR in vignetted corners, though. The noise, unfortunately, refuses to vignette.

Unless perhaps the vignette was created in Lightroom?

That's what I was getting it, I know the vignette was artificially induced. :-)

Eastern Water Dragon taken at 400mm end of the zoom. Full frame and cropped eye showing the excellent IQ and resolution.

Cheers

Dennis

Are those jpegs right out of the camera or did you post process them?

The full frame shot was the Raw file just resampled down to 1024 and then saved as a JPG in CS6.

The 1024 crop shot of the eye has been processed using Topaz Labs Plugins in CS6 then saved as a JPG.

Cheers

Dennis
