Spent last night catching up on editing some photos. Found this gem while digging through some photos I was able to take of Sachi in the desert a few weeks ago.

Canon 5dmkIII w/ 85L II
ISO 50 | f/2.8 | 1/200th a sec
Phottix Indra500 w/ Profoto Large Deep White Umbrella camera left.

Again, I'm teaching workshops in Miami, Phoenix and Denver showing you exactly how I light and retouch images in a 2 day master series class. Seating is extremely limited, so check it out if you're interested.

Awesome portrait, love the light balance between strobe and ambient with that depth of field!

I would guess this has been asked in this thread, but I'll ask it anyway? Do you guys have a set of filters or does everyone use a Vari-ND? Do you buy based on lens or buy a bigger size and step it down? I would guess 2-3 stop would be the starting point.

Rob,

I really like the way this looks. Color play is great, DOF is right where it needs to be.

Great job.

Great shot David. Mind if I ask the distance to subject with your beauty dish?

the distance was about 5 feet, to the right of photo aimed between the two dancers.

here is another one (aimed at male dancers face).:

Thanks for the quick reply, very nice shot again. Silver or white BD? Sorry for all the q's, however I just picked up a 27" silver BD and sock with the hopes of capturing something very similar. Figured a silver dish with the additional sock was the option that would offer the most uses. Again, thanks for the info/examples - have admired your work posted here for sometime.
