I walked into the backyard this afternoon and saw some ripples in the pool under a ledge. When I walked over to take a look, I saw this little critter, belly-up, sinking towards the bottom. He apparently had fallen in and couldn't climb up the slick tiles. If I would have gotten there five seconds later, I wouldn't have seen the ripples, and he'd still be at the bottom of the pool. I put him on a warm brick and went in to get the camera. He let me take one shot, and off he went :)

Nice! Similar thing happened to me once when I was cleaning out a pool filter, found a couple of frogs stuck in the whirlpool.

I rescue quite a few bees; why they fly into the water is beyond me. My wife hates it when I rescue them.

My best pool rescue was saving a fledgling hummingbird; https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=12324882

I have a soft spot for animals in general, but especially hummingbirds :)

Update. I just came home from work, and found him in the pool again, on a shallow step but underwater. No saving him this time :(

I hate it when critters die.
