It is a fully automated coffee maker. On top you put in beans and at the back is a water container. Once you press a button on top, an adjustable amount of beans get ground, and the boiling hot water is pressurised led through the grinds and comes out the front spout as coffee. Made in Switzerland by Jura but there are other manufacturers and models that basically do the same thing. My name is Henk. and I believe "It is all in the eye of the beholder....."

If you can give more insight, how does it compare to a quality coffee shop? Chad or CJ

As I can choose my own brand of coffee and control the strength I prefer my own over a good coffee shop. But in general it would be just as good as the process is more or less the same: hot water pressed through freshly ground coffee. The website and specs make it seem like a top quality product for the price point. Chad or CJ

On the photo you see the little spout on the right hand side (next to the central column where the coffee flows from). You can switch to "steam" and heat/froth milk from that spout for cappuccinos. The machine comes with a milk container and tube that can be attached to the small spout. We never use that - too much work and too much cleaning after...) but you can if you want to.
