Not sure how old yours is, but I had a 2010 macbook pro that got wet. I took it to apple and they sent it out to a vendor that does repair work for them. It cost me $275 for a motherboard, touchpad and testing of everything else.

Yeah I did this. I got the same gang-rape $1,200 estimate at Apple, too. I wound up going to an indie shop and got it all done for about $250. It seems as though they ordered the keyboard on eBay in Asia.. Seemed awful crazy to me but it has worked for 12+ months with no problems.

Then I ordered a keyboard condom from Adorama for about $20. If I had it on there in the first place, it would have saved me $250. If you spill an entire beer on there, then it won't help, but it will protect against small splashes.

That is the dumbest video I ever seen... DUH.. if the motherboard is cooked cleaning is not going to help.
