Can you explain the two different versions?

the outer diameter of the adapter ring. Buff is smaller than the Fotodiox.
I don't remember the exact sizes but they are both available from multiple sources.
Another option is to get elinchrom adapter rings and the E version of the Godox/Cheetah bracket.
The main advantage with the elinchrom is that it keeps the modifier closer to the bracket.
Fotodiox is a good source for the adapters for their boxes and Buff now offers the Elinchrom and Bowens rings for their boxes.

Probably the best way to make sure you get the right ones.

(Thanks for the diameters Rand. Didn't see your post when I wrote the above.)

Well I just ordered two of the flashpoint 360s in efforts to get them here before I leave Friday. I'm going to Austin for a wedding (guest) and my wife wants blue bonnet photos of the kids saturday morning. I'll try the flashes out then as long as they come in.

Now... to test my amazon prime shipping... Ordering the bowens adapter and speedlight bracket so hoping I get the right one.

Will convert the 24x36 gridded buff box over so hopefully it'll work out on location using this. Last year I just used bare flash and it worked out kinda ok but nothing beats softbox.

Later I'll order a 47" octabox from buff to use on location.

That's why all my PCB boxes have the following adapter. This way I can use them with my CL-180/360 on Bowens s-mount adapter and upcoming CL-600:

I hope thats the one I need... I just odered it along with the Neewer branded adapter.

Getting ready for this weekend.

If it doesn't fit... well then I have a drill and bolts :)

The New Cheetahstand Rice Bowl (3 sizes) will be in stock Next month and it will be the new game changer in modifiers for the cl-360 or any Bowens S / Alien Bee / Elinchrom mounts. Color corrected Kelvin diffusers

I will try to making videos of it this week.

Disclaimer: I'm no pro... just a dad.

and I've only done on location flash stuff twice. So I'm a newb to it but I think I'll be OK. Will be nice to finally get a decent "proper" non speedlight setup.

What are you guys getting with the CellsII-C transceiver and the AD/CL360's with the 5D Mark III? I tested the YN-622C's and TX's and only could get 1/640th of a second. Is this a limit for full frame sensors? I noticed that you used a 7D for a few shots, Scott. Is that related to the HSS limitations on a full frame sensor?

When I was doing the original testing with the beta Cells IIc firmware, I was routinely shooting at 1/8000 with a Canon 5DIII.

If you are having a problem below that shutter speed review your settings, it should and has worked in the past.

Any particular settings that I should be looking out for? Got banding past 1/640th, but that was on the YN-622C. I'll get a Cells II-C to test tomorrow. Not sure if it's a mislabelled Cells-II transmitter though (friend got it off Amazon) since it worked perfectly with a 7D but not my 5D3 the last time we tried.

Not sure what images your talking about, because I don't normally shoot in HSS. I mostly shoot using a ND filter and I have no reason to shoot HSS with a model. I have no problems with the cells IIc on the 5D MkIII. The only reason I used the 7D was because I didn't have the 5D MkIII at that time or that was the camera in the bag at the time of that shoot.

No issues w/my Cells II(c) transceiver and my 5D3 shooting up to 1/8000 with AD360 or V850 speedlites (both had FT-16 receivers)

What's a rice bowl?

Its a new modifier that is production and will be released to the public next month. Today I was in skype with Mr. Chen (7 year modifier designer and owner of the factory) and Edward Tang (Cheetahstand) talking over the prototypes and making small changes to make the Rice Bowl Cheetahstand better. Tomorrow 3 beta testers (Professional Photographers) will be going over metering and Kelvin testing on the different units at Cheetahstand before Mr. Chen heads back.

If the Cells II to which you have access works with 7D and causes shutter shadow on 5DIII is is probably not a IIc. The first Cells II that I tested for Edward caused the shadow with my 5DIII but not a 5DII xSi or other pre-2012 cameras. That's what led to the development of the Cells IIc firmware to ensure FP-Sync support with newer cameras.

Any particular advantages to ND filters over HSS? Faster recycle times and better power output? Do you use a variable nd filter, screw on solid nd filter, or square nd filters. Any recommendations? I've used the Singh Ray Vari-ND in the past, but it made the image softer.
