Haha thank you, I've been using lightroom for awhile, but there are still sliders in the detail section which I do not fully understand the impact of using them. For instance when using the sharpening, I rarely use the detail or masking as I do not know what it really does. Same thing with the color section of the noise reduction, no clue. It depends on what mode your in. If in Av or Tv, you can just use the dial to tell it to over or underexpose (see the Exposure comp meter). I believe I was 1/3 or possible 2/3 over. If you are shooting in full manual and the lighting conditions are typically stable, you can just dial in your aperture, shutter, and raise the iso (or really lower the shutter speed, or even open your aperture, just depends which you prefer, I did ISO as I wanted f/2.8 and a fast shutter) until your meter shows you are over exposing for however much you'd like. Hopefully that helps, I'm more hands on so I may not have explained it the best.

That answers my question. I usually shoot the night time football games in AV with 2.8, ive overexposed a couple times but it kicks the SS down to much, guess ill have to raise the ISO more and try to clean them up a little better. Lol

Made it to Easter Island...WiFi exists but don't plan on it...here a shot just before leaving Tierra del Fuego

HI neighbor. Nice work with the 7dii. I'll offer to pass along 2 tips for the LR NR and sharpening. I have found that Color NR easily removes blotchy Ness, especially on skin or color splotches on dark backgrounds. Usually value of 15-30 works great and rarely affects detail. Now the cool trick, the MASK slider in sharpening will help you only sharpen edges to bring back detail after NR while letting the NR work on background and other non edges without getting reshaped and noticeable again. The trick is to hold the Alt key as you slide the Mask slider. As you slide it you will see your image turn from all white to lesser white areas. Only the white areas will receive the sharpening,
I rarely touch he detail slider. This technique actually let's you get more aggressive with the NR and sharpening yet maintain more detail than with lesser values and no masking.

I would be interested I seeing a comparison of the 100% crops you posted vs crops after redoing PP with masking and more sharpening.

Well, the more you read, study, and learn about something, the more you realize how much you don't know. You might know more than some people but you realize there are people out there that know a lot more than you. Thus the statement, "I'm no expert".
