TOOL
Nick Fury had been called a tool before, but the way the dame had said it made the back of his teeth hurt.
It was time he took matters into his own hands...

Fantastic shot, Darkslinger!!

That is a beautiful shot Renata, but I'm wondering which topic inspired the shot?

Stina, I keep getting lost in this and many other threads; I went to page #1 and there was no April. So, what is the theme for this month? Could we have at the beginning of the thread?

Gotcha. You must have followed Don's lead. I wasn't sure because MichiTimm stated at the beginning that we can be very creative with the topics so I thought one of those words inspired your shot. I enjoyed the picture.

The loose translation of "Landscape" is the format of the picture (portrait or landscape). However, I was looking for the broader sense of the word meaning "all the visible features of an area of countryside or land, often considered in terms of their aesthetic appeal."

Perhaps in the future we should be a little more descriptive in what we're looking for but technically, yours do qualify I think.

I attached a post from MichiTimm that I think explains it well.

MichiTimm wrote in post #17422310 (external link)
As the original poster of this thread, I'd like to add a word here -- and a quote from my original post:

My point is that it doesn't really matter what he means by "ordinary" -- what matters is how you interpret it, how you define it, how it inspires you to shoot something that perhaps you wouldn't have otherwise. Maybe it makes you look for ordinary things in unusual places, maybe it makes you look at things that are the opposite of ordinary -- who knows? There is no wrong way to do it.

On a similar note, a couple of the topics for this month have little explanations alongside them. I am totally ignoring these where I choose. As far as I'm concerned the topic is "SOOC", and I'll interpret that and use that any way I want. Same with " the letter K" -- so far I've photographed three different subjects for my representation of the letter K and only one of them actually begins with the letter K. I think it's great if people want to discuss their ideas and interpretations of a topic and such, but if you see "Ant's Eye View" and come up with something different than a shot from ground level, I say more power to you! I think it can be a lot more interesting when people just go off in their own directions on what the topics mean to them. So I'll quote myself again: "Basically, anything goes."

Oh, please no. As I've said before it doesn't matter what the topic-chooser is looking for. What matters is how the photographer interprets it.
A photo qualifies if the shooter of it thinks it qualifies. Period.

If you think they do, they do.

The intent of this thread is to get people to look at the list of topics for the month and then go out and shoot some things that ordinarily they may not have. I apply that by literally keeping the list of words in my wallet and when I find myself wanting to play around with a camera but without anything specific in mind to shoot, I pick something off that list and have at it.

For example, if not for this thread I probably wouldn't have photographed anything resembling a "drink" this month. And actually I still haven't photographed a drink, but I did make a photograph of something that I decided to photograph because the word "drink" was a topic. Also, my favorite "black and white" photo that I've taken this month is in color.

We are all 100% free to interpret the topics any way we'd like. That's a big part of the fun.

What I don't do is take a bunch of photos and that at the end of the month see if any of them fit the month's topic. But if that works for someone, have at it. Like I've said, there really is no wrong way to do this.

Flowers show up in the landscape chapter of Northrup's book: Stunning Digital Photography. So following Northrup's and Renata's lead I post this landscape photo for April's challenge--pansy garden in a local park.

this time a real landscape, nothing special because I didn't have a wide angle lens with me, so the tree is chopped off and the DOF isn't quite right :)
