"Ni hao ma!" I think that's Mandarin though. :p

Non-USA warranty makes it more difficult to sell, I would think. :-( However, I'm sure there's a lot out there looking for a good deal. ;-)a

Aren't Canon warranties non-transferable anyways?

Seeing as the warranty is only one year, it's not really a selling point for me.

when you're buying a used camera you usually don't expect a warranty so i wouldn't concern yourself

Canon warranties are fully transferable until the hardware is registered to an owner. All you need is a fresh serial, and a valid proof of purchase (receipt from authorized retailer), and you will be considered the owner no matter how many times it has changed hands. The name on the purchase receipt does not need to match. The first time it's sent in though, it's locked to that user.

I've read somewhere that a receipt is good enough. So, having 11 months is a nice selling point, no? ;-)a

It might've been CPW that stated even gray market cameras have been serviced by Canon with no issue. No experience with it myself so YMMV. -?

lol i wish. hows your kids hockey going martin?

he lost a tournament final on the weekend but only gave up two goals in 4 games, today he's practicing with the colts AA team he hopes to make in a few weeks when try outs start, how was your season ?

wow tough loss for only letting in 2 goals the whole tourney. Is that the Barrie Colts? They have a solid hockey program. I remember playing there AAA teams back in the peewee/bantam years :)

My season was good got a few games in the BCHL so that was a dream come true. Trying out for a few NAHL teams this year so hopefully i make a team :D

While that is true, that's a very very big YMMV. So far as I know, that's only been the case when someone was local and brought their device in for servicing as a walk-in. I don't recall ever reading about anyone sending in a grey market item and being granted warranty coverage. They most definitely do ask for a receipt if the unit has never been properly registered. They can tell where each unique serial was sold, so passing off an international lens as something purchased in the USA even with a receipt (ie Amazon, which doesn't provide serials) will get you nowhere.

And yes, having warranty coverage is a HUGE selling point (if it hasn't already been registered). You can buy an additional squaretrade warranty for around $60-$80 for a good lens--plus there's Mack warranties for as little as $15-$30. If we're strictly talking about ebay selling prices, things with warranty coverage will frequently sell for much more than your typical used item--in some cases selling for more than a new item without coverage

yes Barrie Colts, they do have a very good program, nice that you got play in the BCHL this year, you must have been anxious before playing, good luck with the tryouts 8-)

Hey Omar how is your Sony coming along, I have been shooting around with the Sony but I have also been relying too with my old Canon...I find it when I shoot around while driving carrying the canon is not a big deal. The AF and IQ is still good with the trusty DSLR
