I'm using the Software now because I have the dock.

Focus speed change - has anyone found a benefit to using the fastest AF speed? I wonder if the speed is at the cost of accuracy...

My 70D is set for accuracy priority (1st shot), so since I have the lens set to fastest - this will be an experiment :-)

Dynamic OS Any feedback? Do you prefer it over standard?

Wow, the Focus Setting options are... 'comprehensive' and highly customizable... will be staying away from that for a while! :-P

Meanwhile, here is a pick from the other day

Will - those are KILLER shots!

I'm still figuring out my S model. What have you done with the Dock?

Thank-you ~

well I didn't throw it in the garbage, so that was a good start :-P

I adjusted the speed to fastest of the 3 settings. It is defaulted to Standard which is a good mix of accuracy and speed.

I looked at the Focus adjustment screen... and curled up in fetal position and cried for a few minutes before collecting myself and continuing (I did not touch the Focus Adjustments)

And I changed the OS to Dynamic, which is the strongest of the 3, so to speak.

I do not understand the Full-time Manual Focus option yet. I have it set to "On" but I have reading to do because I don't understand what the adjustments do.

Hope you like your Sport model, it was too heavy for the hand-holding type of shooting I do. I wish my 'C' version had weather sealing but I suspect that is part of the added weight. So few reviews out yet - I'm understandably curious of the optical quality among the two Sigma sisters and the Tamron.

Ok...so all of the adjustment you've made, focus speed, and OS - Dynamic, are through the software downloaded and used with the dock?

Focus adjustment screen - is that part of the dock software?

All of this is a bit confusing to a simpleton like me. :(

Yes, when you get the Sigma Dock - you also install the free software. The dock attaches to your lens, and their is a USB cable from the dock to your computer.

Do you have it for your Nikon or Canon? No matter, just curious.

Open the software and there are various options depending on your lens, including updating the Dock's Firmware, or your len's Firmware, if there is an update.

In my opinion, the software is 'not' an intuitive user interface at the moment. I did not realize you need to click on "rewrite" once you made a selection but figured it out. Then it took about 4 seconds to rewrite the Firmware.

The changes you make only apply to the "C" (Custom mode settings) on your lens. My lens has C mode 1 & 2.

Hope this helps. The dock is such a simple yet revolutionary idea. Too bad Canon is so monolithically large and prideful, they probably will not adopt the same idea as the Dock.

The dock is about the size of a hockey puck.

Wish I didn't have to buy it and could have borrowed someone else's... like I said in a previous post - guess I am now invested in Sigma ;-)a

Thanks for the info! I have it for the Nikon. As I was looking around the net for dock info I found this review of the dock and some descriptions of how to adjust the lenses with some good screen shots.

Its an excellent review with very helpful images, yes ~

I asked him about the Sigma 150-600 OS (C) and he is awaiting a copy to review. I may write some initial impressions.
He reviewed a Sport but it had a decentering issue I think, so he did not finish the review.

I just tested the 'Dynamic' OS... Holy Crap - what a splendid difference!

My thanks to those who suggested it...

<rant>Well out of the box, the OS is unremarkable and there was a time when I didn't think it did anything, but it did stabilize a tiny bit, but it was an underwhelming experience... If I look at the marketing material for the lens its probably claiming a 4 Stop hand-hold difference (like any lens now days) - but I'm stunned why Sigma would make the OS so subtle out of the box... I wonder how many people will return the lens back saying the OS does not work..? It should be set to Dynamic in the first place(!).

So yeah, at 600mm there is a distinct & obvious improvement with OS vs the default "Standard". Sigma should be ashamed of themselves if their motivation was to sell more Sigma Docks to enable features it should have in the first place!</rant>

ok anyways, here is another shot ~

Sadly, I'd say it has to do with driving sales of the docking station.

testing, adjusting, testing, adjusting...

Wow, in Lightroom, the chickadee's eye is quite sharp but looks somewhat dull posted here...

Here's a few more of mine from this evening. All shot with the 7D. I need to get out with the 6D to compare IQ between the 2. I'm sure the 6D is better, but I always need the extra reach...
