So I just got this lens this week. I am not sure what I feel about it right now....macro is cool. The focus is spot on...but wide open it doesn't feel tack sharp. Is that just how this lens is? I did some outdoor shots wide open today with the camera in portrait and the face (along the top of the frame) was just not very sharp. Honestly I feel like my kit 18-135 STM does about that well wide open.

My 17-55 likes to miss focus a bit and I was hoping this might be a nice alternative as I am rarely back at 17 - the sealing, size, advanced IS, and macro are all nice features, but if the lens is this soft I am not sure if I will keep it.

Cameras: 7D2, S100
Lenses: 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM, 18-135 STM, 24-70 f/4L IS USM, 50 f/1.4 USM,70-300L IS USM
Other Stuff: 430 EX II, Luma Labs Loop 3, CamRanger

Should be very sharp wide open. I recently shot a wedding with this lens at f/4, and it is very sharp.

Gets a little more flare than some of the newer Canon lenses, but I'm really liking this one!
