Thanks guys! Much appreciated. I have never been able to get a decent shot of this bird. They are always around but my efforts always come up short.

Hi all guys,
just a quick info for the Tamron's owners.
I am an official MotoGP photographer based in Italy, and I need a long zoom.
The Tamron seems a good solution for me.
Do you have experience in shooting motorsport with this lens?
In the specific I have a Canon EOS7D, and my question is: is the Tamron's AF in AI-Servo mode enough quick in focusing and in following the MotoGP's bikes?

Many thanks in advance,
Felice

Hi Felice :) While I have no experience with that type of photography and in my opinion I would say it's fast enough but that's judging examples found on flickr

Heya,

As much as I love the Tamron, I will be the first probably to say that if you're bread & butter is panning with things, the Tamron may not be the right fit, IF you want IS/VC/OS while panning specifically. If you're not worried about panning, then nevermind this.

The Tamron can keep up with a bird in flight, so a motorvehicle/bike is not that difficult.

Very best,

Hi MalVeauX,
as first, thanks for your response, I appreciate a lot!!!
At the moment I have the Sigma 120-400 OS-HSM that I'm using for MotoGP.
I have noticed that with "OS ON" on my Sigma it is very difficult to have a good panning probably due the slowness AF with the "OS ON".
No probs with "OS OFF".
Anyway...pannings are not useful for the agency I work with. I only need a lens capable to focus and follow correctly the subjects. This mean that I will switch off the VC on the Tamron.
I'm asking this because I have read that there are some problems with the Canon EOS7D + Tamron 150-600...

Cheers,
Felice
