I'm no pro (not by a long shot), but to my eye, the reflection in his sun glasses is quite loud and draws my attention.

I don't have a problem with the sunglasses. But you could probably tone them down in post processing. At least the photographer is not in the reflection. The image is a bit oversaturated for my taste. I usually desaturate portraits a bit. But that's me.

Question did you use any type of filter on your camera while shooting?

the glasses don't bother me in color, but I think they look extra weird in black & white.

I don't think we need to over critique this. It's a nice shot and a wonderful memory. Frame it and put it by your bed. Your wonderful memories don't need critiquing.

I'm not sure what you mean by pixel borrowing? But thank you.

Great edit. I belive pixels borrow is cutting and pasting. He probably took the black from elsewhere in the pic. It looks much better. The phycodelic colors before distracted from a nice photo

Yeah, he took the daughters glasses and moved them over. I would leave it as is, I bet you saw him wearing those puppies all week, and that is a memory you don't want to (and probably couldn't) change!
WOW, i never even noticed the change in the glasses until it was mentioned.I like that a lot more. And yes, i did see those glasses all week long.
