I felt the same way. Birds are interesting and sometimes funny creatures. Glad you enjoyed it.

You need to define low light. I believe Doc who shoots McKeever State often. Uses 7dii at 6400iso. While then1d4 will be a little cleaner, it's focus and some of the other smaller features don't compare to 7dii. It's build quality is though a 1d. 5d3 although has best ISO noise Mgmt and the latest AI Servo iii firmware, people have indicated better sports Af with the 7dii(i would love to hear more sports Af comparisons). The 5d3 also will have inferiority for focal length limited field sports. I am not a huge burst shooter, but for those that are, 5dii again falls behind.

The bottom line is, you won't go wrong with any of those cameras.
I had the 1d4, used and it had a file download issue and the original seller took it back. There are days I kick myself for sending it back and there are days I love the decision I made. I can tell you that the 7d2 does everything the 1d4 did for me in the short period of time I used it, with lighter weight and much better user interface. It is also much quieter on the high speed burst setting. If the price of the 1d4 is less than you'd pay for the 7d2 and it has pretty low mileage, I would jump on it. You are already used to a 1d body, correct?
