Got a starter umbrella kit and took some quick pictues of my wife. C&C is much appreciated.

good start , I prefer the first one
IMO it was better if you shoot from a little higher angle to prevent the double chin and this will helps to show more of her beautiful eyes
in second shot you could use a reflector or white foam board to fill the shadows on her face (her cloth gave her a pink shadow )

Well done on getting your lights and your wife to pose for you. She looks pretty happy doing it so keep going while she is eager to help.

Thanks. I played around a bunch with different placement of the flash & umbrella and added the reflector at the end for the first shot above. Thanks for the tip about shooting from a higher angle....
