End of the day, threatening rain, darkness approaching.....I had to set the shutter speed way down to lower the ISO as much as I could, or it would have been in the thousands .....the first one was taken before I got the shutter speed lowered.

Very nice series and framing. Cloudy weather adds to the beauty...

Well done Ian.

Thanks folks....some sun at that time of day (dusk) sure would have helped; these were mostly, except for that first one, taken at 1/100 or 1/125 sec.

Stunning birds!

A tough bird to get good shots of. It's been my experience that they are extremely shy of humans and hard to get close to.

Nice job!

Thanks Justin, you're so right. I think they were avoiding me when I was just sitting there in my truck, window open, camera sitting on a beanbag in the window. So I cut a 2 foot piece off the end of a piece of mesh net, hung that over the car window opening and let it drape around the lens, and he flew right up and landed without a worry in the world.

"End of the day, threatening rain, darkness approaching" - I know the pain. This is how the 98% of my shooting days (and days in general) look like in the UK. Very frustrating. Nonetheless, great shots.

Ha, it's been that way far too much here since January.....here's hoping we'll see an extended period of sun and blue sky this summer. Thanks for commenting!
