Challenge #533 - Bicycles
_______________
Submissions

  • pwdieter – G7 X – Urban Cruisers
It seems a unique rental store. The variety of services announced is amusing and the signs, together with the rustic construction, provide a large number of textures for the background. The different models of bicycle wheels enhance even more to the clustered look. There are no bicycles in action, but the photo has a nice story to tell.

  • teekay – G15 - Age 8 Ambition: Red Bull Pro
Precise timing, not always easy with the powershots, at least the older ones. The photo framing helps to see the concentration needed for a difficult stunt.
A small amount of sun to cast some shadows would have been great. A pity that we do not have control of the clouds in action shots. Nevertheless it is a very nice capture!

_______________

My bicycle is long time at rest, but I'm always thinking on cleaning it, buy new tires and return to the streets, to the trails on the country, park tracks, etc.
Help me with the idea :) .
Post your bicycles on display or, better yet, on your favorite wonderful routes.
Sport bicycles, Mountain bikes, classical bikes all are acceptable. Any unusual idea is welcome too, the only unavoidable requisite:
Keep an eye on photographic elements, beauty and image quality. Good luck.

Congratulations to Paul and Teekay and thanks for hosting and judging a rather quiet challenge this time around Raphael.
I had fully intended to play this week but my home pc was playing up over the weekend and I don't start work until 12.30 GMT on Mondays so was half an hour too late to enter using the office PC!
Will be more organised for the next challenge :-)
Carolyn

AHHH the hazing of my return begins imeadiatly I see. :p

Teekay's shot is pretty amazing for a PS camera, we really are getting more and more options with these cameras every generation. The 7x has really spurred me to dig more deeply into it's functions and get a grasp on the features more than I have in a while.

Thanks for the win Rafael I'll get something up later (and you will message me about what I screwed up on my cut and paste and instructions and then I will fix that and we will be ready to go)

Have fun
Paul

Congrats to pwdieter and teekay! I love the cruisers, the color and teekay's airborne action.

I apologize for not submitting an entry. I was away from my photo computer this week and didn't get back in time.

Thanks, Rafael. We could've supported that idea much more fully! Appreciate your work this week.

Steve

Congratulations, pwdieter! I had planned to try a similar shot at our local funky bike store, but due to road construction their bikes were never out on display.

My shot at the local skateboard park was a last minute idea just to add some competition to the challenge, and I didn't expect it to win as the focus was more on the rider than the bike. The exposure was a challenge as the white concrete background was in bright sunlight and the young rider was in shadow at his takeoff place.

Only 2 entries? I guess we better get back on the ball around here....

I got home yesterday from a 10 day road trip through Arizona & Utah & I am pooped but got to see a lot of beautiful country. Now I am ready to jump back in to regular life again.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Congrats to Paul and teekay. Both very nice. Good to know the G-series cameras can freeze action that well.
And thanks, Rafael, for hosting what I figured would be a busy contest. I waited until the weekend to get started. And then the weekend went completely manic. Sorry. My bad for procrastinating. :-(
