Looking for HARNESS to hold my 7D mk II and 100-400 mk II

I'm looking for a harness setup to comfortably hold my 7D mk II and 100-400 mk II combo.

The camera strap that I'm using on my 7D, the Kata Reflex E Strap, allows it to be "clipped in" to a ring. So, I'd like the harness to have a strong "ring" (or similar) on it so I can clip in.

I'd like something comfy enough to wear for a few hours, with the weight being even distributed to reduce fatigue and strain.

Thanks Mike! Do you know if it's sturdy enough to hold my combo comfortably and safely?

I use the Black Rapid Sport strap with my 7D MK II (gripped) and 70-200 MK II. That should be about the same weight as your set-up and it's plenty sturdy for that.

Black Rapid...you get what you pay for. I looked at some cheaper ones and found some photos of comparisons between the carabiners. The BlackRapid ones were much better quality and the "knock offs" didnt have the little indent in the hook to hold it closed. There were reports of them opening and dropping. For what a harness is holding, i'll spend a little more for quality. Funny how much people will spend on the bodies and lenses but when it comes to things like this, they cheap out. Think about it, is it really worth saving $50 to risk your $3000+ setup ? Spend a little more and sleep better

O, I use a BlackRapid Double. It can also break down to be used as a single cross should strap.

I trust my Black Rapid stuff. The cost compared to the knock off straps from China is pretty inconsequential.

Couldn't agree more. With a 7D II and 100-400 MK II you're more like $4K. I'd hate to be picking it up off the pavement if my strap failed.

I know! I was still a little worried the first time I used my BlackRapid double. I even emailed BlackRapid my setup and they reassured me. I had a gripped 70d + a 70-200 2.8 on one side and i kept checking to make sure the screw wasn't loose, but it never came loose at all. The connectors are on a swivel so no worries!

I use my BR with a 70D and a 6D with a 70-200 2.8L I all the time. Granted, most of the time I keep my hand on it when I can but at the end of the day, as said above, once you go Black Rapid, you'll never go back.

I use one of these (Fotasy Quick Strap).

Inexpensive, works really well. I've used Black Rapids too. I've yet to see a difference. The hook has a drop down lock so it cannot be opened without you purposefully doing so (thumb screw lock). It bolts into the bottom of your tripod collar on a big lens, otherwise, into the camera body with a smaller lens. Works like a rifle sling.

Holds my 1D2 + 150-600 just fine.
Holds my APS-C + 400 F5.6 just fine too.

I also use a Joby UltraFit Sling Strap for smaller setups, usually my EOS-M as my sidekick, otherwise it totes my APS-C + 400 F5.6. I alternative between the two at the shore line here in Florida often. Very good quality, also inexpensive ($30?). I use this Joby with whatever camera I'm carrying when I'm traveling or at a park or out and about either way. It's my favorite "do it all" strap that isn't too flashy, not too big, and is big enough for a full size SLR, but small enough to not look like a weapon strap.

skip black rapid. The fact that black rapid users constantly check the screw should clue you in that it's a poorly thought out product with great marketing. The fact that black rapid offers safety tethers after years of NOT having it is admission of poor design. Get an optech sling, and you'll never check how fiddly your connections are, they're either connected or not.

I use a Blackrapid RS-Sport for a 1DX with a 300 2.8.

Now here comes the trick... replace the Lens foot with a RRS replacement foot. Have the Blackrapid attached to a QR-Clamp (ie. RRS B2-Pro). Use a drop of loctite and the clamp will never separate from the QR-Clamp..

Et Voila, you have a great setup to carry your Rig by the lens foot.. Allows you to remove Camera quickly from the strap if desired (i.e. Tripod setup etc..)

I carry my setup for miles when hiking on the Blackrapid..
