So this was my first real paid shoot. I've been doing photos for friends at no cost since I got into this stuff last October but decided it was time to start getting compensation for all the time I've put in :-) One of my coworkers had me do some 6 months shots of her little girl. I was pretty excited with how they came out. We just set up in their living room, I had one flash fired through an umbrella and we used blankets as backdrops.

any tips for improvement are always welcome!

1. These first two are my personal favorites and I can't decide if I like the color or b&w better.

All very nice. Between 1 and 2, I like the B&W with that shot. For me the winner is number 6; if they keep recreating that pose it will make for a great series in 15 or 20 years.

Ha, yes that would be an interesting thing to see. The jeans will probably change along with them

Very cute, and I love the last one. I'd suggest if you're going to continue to expand, invest in some seamless paper backdrops or something like that. The blue blanket has a lot of wrinkles in it which is distracting.

Thanks everyone very much! It's definitely still a learning process but I'm pretty happy with my progress to this point.

Jensgt, seamless paper is on my list to acquire soon. I don't like the wrinkly blanket either but fortunately the parents didn't mind :-) it was their blanket anyway haha.

Ideally I'll get a room set up in my house as a studio so I won't need to worry about setting up in client homes, although while the weather is nice I'm focusing a lot on outdoors shoots anyway.
