I was out and about for a while this past Saturday and had a great time. Overall I am pleased with the shack and the sunset and not too sure how I feel about the waterfall. The waterfall was my first of that sort. I just received my ND filter in the mail a few days before hand so that I can play around with longer exposures. I am about 2 months into this new photography hobby so I am learning new stuff on a daily basis. Photos are adjusted in Lightroom 5. Open to any and all feedback. I appreciate your time.

Shack and sunset look really nice to me - good job! On the sunset, it took me a minute to realize the streaks were actually train tracks reflecting the sunset... At first I was thinking it was some sort of long exposure car driving by, which confused me...

As far as the waterfall goes - I think for the purposes to trying out the ND it worked, however as an interesting photo, not so much. The tilt is too distracting to me, as is the black pipe.

Keep shooting and sharing!

Freestyle thank you so much for the feedback. Glad you liked the pictures. I'm pretty sure I uploaded the wrong waterfall picture. I had noticed the tilt in the picture after editing. I went back in and fixed it and when I saved I saved it as a new file from the first edit. I will have to check tonight when at home and upload again.

Thanks again for looking!

+1 to all of this.

Thanks Jeff

Okay so here is the picture of the waterfall that I meant to post in the first place. A little more leveled out then the first version.

Tpitsch of the three, the susnset with tracks reflecting is the winner.. Really nice composition, perhaps a longer exposure would of yielded you more of the water being silkier.

As for the stilted shed out in nature, it looks like it might be a blind for wildlife. A early morning sunrise/ foggy atmosphere or sunset would make it a lot more interesting, as would when the leaves change. Think about shooting it with those thoughts in mind, and you should walk away with a keeper.

As for the waterfall, if there are rocks out in the middle, where you could get the waterfall staight on, that would be the shot. However that may or may not be possible.
So lets talk about your the vantage point you were shooting from, first I would of gotten my tripod as low to the ground, as to make the rocks the foreground impact feature, and the waterfall the focal point. I would try it both in Portrait ( not needing to get the entire waterfall in the frame perhaps some trees and sky as well) and in landscape without the pipe in the composition. It's not always necessary to get the entire waterfall in the frame to be impactful. Also think about a fall shot with the foliage changing colors, and perhaps incorporate it into the composition.

Thank you for posting, keep shooting !!

Thank you Bianchi for the feedback. I did get a few shots straight on with the waterfall but unfortunately due to my lack of experience none of them turned out very well. I shot straight on before the ones off to the side when I started to get the hang of it. I also tried to get some trees in but because it was windy, and I was shooting long exposure, I wasn't satisfied with the blur. Fall shot would be great.

As for the shack, good call.... I'll have to make it there on a foggy day.

Thanks again for your help.

I like the sunset image with the tracks the most. I like the light reflecting off of them. Pleasing composition.

Thanks Moose! I wasn't sure how I felt about the sunset but I like it more and more every time I look at it. Wish I would have done a long exposure but at 2 months into this I can't expect all my shots to be perfect.

LOVE this new hobby!

Yep. It's quite addictive, and can be very time consuming.

Oh, and expensive. ;-)a

I like the shack photo a lot. As for the waterfall, manmade waterfalls don't ever get me excited. The concrete and pipe are very distracting.

Liking the shack image best of these. I would crop some of the sky to make it more of a letterbox shape and then its excellent!

Can I ask whether it was difficult to capture that sunset? I had a helluva time trying to capture something similar a few weeks ago. Not very experienced in sunsets and landscapes.

Taking photos with a fancy camera does not make me a photographer.
