FS (CONUS): Yashica Electro 35

$40 shipped and paypal'd to the lower 48.

I bought this untested from someone who got it at an estate sale. Ran some film through it and liked it so much that I bought another, so I'm selling this one. It is not perfect by any stretch, but it works. I bought a roll of film Friday at my local camera store, went outside and fired off 36 shots, came back in and give it to them to develop. Picked up the scans this morning and it went 36-for-36. I'll post a pic of the index card below, and post a few other shots I've taken with it as well.

The main "problem" with it is that the lens is loose near the shutter speed ring. Just wobbles a bit and feels a little wonky. I was concerned that it would affect the photos, but it doesn't seem to. Also, I had really bad results once when using expired film, but since this last (fresh) roll went so smooth I'm comfortable blaming that on the film. Also, the ever-ready type case that comes with it is a little scratched up - but it's still pretty cool, and completely functional.

A bit of history, if I may. This fine camera was made 20 years before Yashica was commandeered and run into the ground by Kyoto Ceramics. IIRC, this is the first electronically controlled 35mm camera. You will discover that this camera also used Hg batteries, which haven't been available for about 30 years. Modern LR44 work just fine in their place. Last but not least, this is the camera that Peter Parker used in the 2012 Spider-Man movie.

I'd buy this just for nostalgia's sake, but my wife is convinced that 7 cameras already constitutes and obsession. Good luck with your sale, and I hope you are enjoying your Elan 7NE!

6D, 60D, Elan 7, SX260HS, G15 - all in working order.
Kodak Star 35mm P&S. Worked the last time I used it, about 15 years ago.
Brownie Hawkeye Flash - May work, don't know, can't get film.

I did not know that about the Spiderman movie -- cool! Might just be reason enough for me to see it. I recently watched Crocodile Dundee and when I saw what's-her-face lift a Canon F1 to her eye it made me think I should probably buy one. I haven't. Yet.

Luckily my wife is perfectly fine with my owning pretty much as many cameras as I want. Heck, I think I have 7 Polaroids! I am starting to thin the herd a little bit though. Gonna sell my Electro 35 (keeping the Electro 35 GSN), sell my AE1 Program (keeping the AE-1), and sell the Elan 7 (keeping the Elan 7ne).

50+ Vintage film cameras of all makes and more lenses than I want to mention and adapters to mount to my Canon bodies. And everything is in working order ! There would be more but I donated about 25 film bodies to a school for kids who could not afford to take the film class last year. I'm a very sick man !

Please, give me a shot at the 7Ne if/when you go to sell it! That is the one camera I kick myself for selling. This is funny: I like it better than the Elan 7 because it does ETTL-II.

I applaud you, sir. Most of my manual film stuff got split between the local high-school art department and a photography class designed to give kids something to do that did NOT attract police cars.

My wife thinks her SX260HS is over-complicated. Good thing it has an "EASY" setting. Whew! On top of that, she won't touch my 1911s. "Revolvers are easier. If it doesn't go BANG!, pull the trigger again." Women!

EDIT: She packs a Stainless Steel Rossi 3" .44 SPL, stoked with Cor-Bon 180s - ditto two speed-loaders. When she says 7 cameras is enough, I take the hint!

If you still have this rangefinder I'm interested. I started out my hobby with a Yashica TL Electro SLR so I have a fondness for this brand and I still shoot film sometimes guess it's the old school in me.

You should probably listen to her ! Don't get me started on guns, another hobby of mine. Just bought a really nice Python and unlike camera stuff guns appreciate in value.
