Built in 1942 as an M4A4 Sherman Tank he was delivered to the UK and fought until the end of the war. Post war he was delivered to France where he remained in service until the late 1950's. Delivered to Israel, this tank then fought in the Six Days War ('67) and the Yom Kippur War ('73). While with the Israelis he was modified into her current configuration as an M50 Super Sherman. Sold as surplus in the late '80's he ended up back in the States where he's lovingly cared for and is brought out for demonstration two to three times a year.

Purrs like a kitten and belches fire like a dragon ...... Gabriel, as he is called, was demonstrated several times over the weekend during the Warbirds over Addison event.

Great shot & the title of the thread is cool too. The young kids don't know that the auto companies made things like this during WWII.
