Thanks for the comments, yeah the matt look was a stylistic choice which I'm happy with but hey it's all subjective at the end of the day. Regarding the lips I agree, the mua wanted to give her a fuller look which I feedback later was a little ott.

I was shooting a portrait of a chef at a farmers market. After some shots of him in the crowd, we needed some simple portraits. I had set up a strobe and reflector and after a couple of photos I realized that it's not the right look for the project. I wanted more organic feel. Sometimes you just have to turn your lights off and go with your gut. I carried all that gear and less was more this time.

Here's an example of the difference. I don't think these photos will be used because of his expression was a bit too serious.
