Blote voetenpad... that must be in Holland!

Inspeqtor wrote in post #17517990 (external link)
Where do you see Blote voetenpad? I was assuming since the poster (vk2gwk) lives in Autralia, that would be the location of the photo.

JWdlft wrote in post #17517995 (external link)
The sign just below the red jacket's left elbow (camera right).

You guys are more observant than I was... Never noticed that sign: "Blote Voetenpad" means "Bare feet path" and yes this is in the Netherlands. In Orvelte - a museum village in the province of Drenthe - and very close to where I lived before I moved to Australia.

Went to a popular local spot, and two buses of tourists showed up 10-15 mins after I got there. Wondering if there where on some sort of photo trip/school as there was a lot more gear then your average tourists:

Mark Mathews. Professional big wave surfer. Technically pro photographer.

QUOTED IMAGE

That's an interesting "rig" he's got there!

I don't know how many of us have seen it, but some time a number of months ago GoPro (makers of the head-mounted video cams) sponsored some surfers to get out in the waves with their mounted cameras and ride (and shoot) the waves! It was great, dramatic footage from Hawaii and, I believe, Southern California, they put out a very cool video of it! Of course, promoting GoPro, but it was definitely a promotional worth seeing!

Here's an interesting one. This young lady seems to have her Samsung phone plugged into the mic socket of her 5D. Or is it the remote socket, do you think? If her Samsung has stereo mics, I can see why she might use it for video, though it's going to give pretty low quality, and be very susceptible to wind noise. So I'm thinking it's probably a remote triggering app.

She will be using it as a remote camera release.

That sounds right, plugged into presumably that "side" socket. I didn't know that phones could do that (tethered shooting)!

I just recently downloaded an app to my android phone called DSLR Controller. This app is strictly for (some of the newer) Canon cameras.
There is another for Nikon and other camera brands (Canon included) but from what I have seen so far I like DSLR Controller better. I was also able to download the app to my new android Nexus 9 tablet.

One option I really like with DSLR Controller is remote fine focusing! Don't have to touch the lens at all :-)

EDIT: Forgot to mention the other app is called qDSLR Dashboard.
