There's No Escape Now...

Breakfast snack for this heron... Captured at Bolsa Chica Reserve, here in SoCal... 7D2 + 400 2.8L II 'non-IS' + Canon 1.4x II and 2x II TC's (stacked)... ISO 1600, f/8 @ 1/2000sec... Cropped about 10% from the left and 5% from the bottom for framing purposes... Distance from the scene was roughly 80-90 feet away...

:D

PS. Don't know if we discussed stacked TC's with this body, but I can confirm that it can... WITH EASE... On all AF points (single and group)... FYI...

Hi. My name is Butch...

Two more thrillers Pondrader---both outstanding. The lake like a paiting, the kits like I'm there and could reach over and touch.

Cute lil fella. I saw where you ask if I updated the firmware yet. Yes I did, but have not done any testing yet, too busy with other crap (uhh stuff). I should get a chance this week hopefully.

Here's a FW 1.02 image though.

Ma (2nd image) and Pops (1st image).

A few birds from today. I think I'll have to look into micro adjusting my sigma 120-300 with 2x extender as I haven't been happy with the sharpness I've been getting. Still testing as the conditions have had poor lighting and I haven't had the mark 2 for too long, altough I have previously used the original 7d. Any c&c always appreciated.

Super....I hope someday to shoot these guys. Great job. I cant find anything I don't like about 1.04 ,..and i don't know if its really true but I find using my 1.4III way better in IQ and being on focus.

Very subjective but have to agree firmware update + 7Dii and the 400DOii are def. an improvement.....would have to think same with the 100-400ii but currently its glued on another body.

You could use this bird as an mfa target with its black and white pattern, :-P
Did your focus point slip down to the tail, or is it possible slight from focus on this lens?
By the way, I don't think I would mind your back yard with the shots you have posted.

Thinking you are right...that is more than one where focus is off just a tad to the front....but have only noticed when the 1.4TCiii is in place so need mfa with it on. Honestly though with my vision I can only see the underside of the downies neck to be soft.
