wec12, those are some good images. What is the lighting like in that venue? From the exif it shows no flash and from the image it looks like the lighting is a few feet in front of the stage. I have three little granddaughters (0-8 year olds) who will keep me busy for years shooting in low light level school auditoriums. I'm shooting with a 6D also, and the high-ISO/low-noise ability is great. The exif shows you shot wide open and with a nice shutter speed of 1/250. DOF looks good. I'm considering this lens (one of four in the decision-making process  ) but have been concerned about it's low-light performance. Any words of encouragement for me? :)

Nice shots!!!
Ed

Thank you very much, Ed.

Photos are taken when they were moving/performing and the only available lights were those super high pointing down to the stage. That was actually my first time shooting ballet performance. I did some research online prior to the performance; to me, ISO 3200 on 6D + 70-200mm f/4 IS + f/4 + 1/250 (a bit faster is good too) was a good combination (manual mode of course). I also set the WB to tungsten and decided not to adjust WB when processing the images. On post processing, I actually just have to adjust bit of exposure/brightness, that's it.

Happy shooting. Hope you get tons of super nice & cute images of your granddaughters!

Hello everyone

My 70-200 arrived yesterday - nice

Took a couple of photos just to try it out - a bit worried, all of them blurred or out of focus at the 200 end. Had IS turned on so the image in the view finder was stationary. Could be pilot error so will give it a good play with over the weekend.

Don't have any issues with my other lens - as I said, may be pilot error on my part, or could be a bad copy?

Suggestions on a post card please :-)
