Anyone some action photos?
Im leaning towards buying the 1.4 USM, because of its USM.
I undersatnd for static objects the stm should do fine, but I have 2 young kids running around, which need some serious focus speed.

Please remember that there are 2 types of USM: ring type USM (fast) and micro USM (not so fast). The EF 50mm F/1.4 USM uses micro USM (for more info see this link (external link)).

It's a lot like the mk1. A lot! I think it is the mk1 with better coatings, so a bit more contrast and truth to the colour. The AF is a bit quicker and doesn't sound like there's a bumble bee stuck in the lens...

But, I have the mk1 and I'm not seeing huge differences. Actually i have the mk2 as well, but I gave that (permanent loan) to a family member, because my copy was NEVER consistent. I love the mk1, but it has a look. A difference in colours and contrast that none of my other lenses do. This new one is more like the rest of my lenses.

hmm.
now Im back to start again.
On a local website I see the Sigma DG 50mm for $270 and the canon 50 for $300.

Maybe I should just get the 1.8stm.... maybe
still undecided
