Beautiful shots. Dang....that's a lot of sail square footage for a hull that size.

I'm out of touch, but that sure looks like a lot of high tech sail on that boat,. I'm guessing this is somewhat of a speed demon? :)

Nice shots!

Thanks for the kind words!

Yeah, that thing is going to be a bit of a speed demon. To put it in perspective, my sailboat is the exact same length, but weighs three times more and when I have all of my sails out, this one has twice as much. Also, this is the first canting keel boat I know of in our area. In case anyone is wondering what that is, the keel can actually be 'swung' from one side to the other to increase righting moment.

These pictures were taken during her first sail here (Georgian Bay, Great Lakes, ON). The wind was light and I am wondering if my chase boat would have been able to keep up if we had another 10 knots of wind...

Yup, that is Picknic Island!

I grew up on the water there, but spent fifteen years or so away. It's really nice to be back and it's special to me that I can take my kids to Picknic Island for icecream like my parents did with me. To me, It hasn't changed much. We go through Big Dog channel all the time and I alwasy smile because the last boathouse nearest to the Delewana Inn (closed down a coule years ago) still has the Rockaway Boathouse mural airbrushed on the side and a pair of fast boats just waiting... Again, just like when I was a kid.

The Del!

So my Family had spot out past Tomahawk Channel. If you look on Google Earth, it's the Island just east of "Star's island" and "Dinnicks"

I was fourth Generation there, and spent every summer of my life up until my early twenties.

Sadly when my grandmother passed away her wicked little children (my father and Aunt) sold the place to the McCain french fry family! :(

I haven't been there since 2004 when we had to clean the place out.

Picnic island was a favorite spot to be sure. Ice cream, and that amazing frozen yogurt and frozen berries machine, ( I still talk about that never seen one state side)

But later in life Picnic island was replaced in my heart by the "Liquor Store Dock!" lol :)

Were you around the summer of the tornadoes when that guy had turned his floating boat house surrounded by floating docks into a "Drive In" with fantastic grilled sausages and peppers on a bun? (would have been late 1980's) It ended in a sad story though :(

Anyway, now I am home-sick, it's in the eighties here at home and the kind of Humid that simply NEVER happens up there, despite what the locals think, and I am really wishing I could strip down to boxers and take a dive off the end of the dock! :(
