Traveling to Texas to visit my brother. We plan on going on hikes, and some caverns but I was wondering if anyone else that has been there or currently lives there can give some insight on places to go for fun and to get some nice shots.

So far we are starting off in Houston (where he lives), then Dallas, and San Antonio.

Thanks!

Downtown Dallas has a lot to shoot, West End, Botanic Garden in Fort Worth and the Arboretum in Dallas to name a few. Enjoy :)

I'll keep those in mind thank you! I believe we are adding Austin as a stop as well if anyone has ideas on that :)

Austin... great night shots of the skyline with the lake in the foreground taken from Butler Hill in the park just west of The Long Center for the arts. Barton creek greenbelt and springfed pool, and the lake and Pennybacker bridge taken from the top of Mount Bonnell, are all classic Austin shots and free access. Also cool in Austin is the state capitol building, and South Congress street starting 2 blocks south of the river.....great street photography there.

West of Austin and San Antonio is Enchanted Rock state park and the town of Fredricksburg. Right outside of Fredricksberg is the town of Luckenbak where there is always great music and classic motorcycles.

Thank you for all the great suggestions, I am looking forward to some nice street photography as well. I'm still relatively new to photography as it is a growing hobby, what would you recommend as a good walk around lens?

Any recommendations on which things to try?

As many as possible. I like the fruit fillings.

The EF-S 17-55 is about the best walkaround lens you can have. A close second with a bit longer range would be the 24-105L
