I had an issue I bought a macro lens off here few years ago. Seller sent it shipped it in the sigma box only..No extra boxing and didnt insure it. Rear mount on the lens was busted. Now no way even in just sigma box would it break because it was a sold built EX lens and inside that padded case. Seller knew it was busted. I opened a paypal claim and after back and forth paypal response basically was you got the item tough luck its broke case closed. I couldnt send back to get a refund or anything. paypal protection offers no protection to buyer

I assume it will not be good for the end - users. Now there will be two whores.

They always were? I always had to pay fees with both! Which I never understood since they had the same owner.

I've been happy with Paypal for the most part, just wish amazon accepted it. As well as kickstarter.

FWIW I get most stuff from Adorama this way and thankfully nothings broken so far. Even the last camera I bought was just mailed in a plastic vacuumed mailer. I really hate those mailers, so difficult to open sometimes.

The split better structures Paypal to investors in order to attract the capital it needs to evolve to compete against Apple Pay. It is a good move for the long term viability of the company. I doubt it will have any effect on the integration with eBay.
