wow nice shot, I like the same level here, makes it an unusual view.

I was on the ridge the hang gliders jump off - so sometimes they were above me, sometimes below, and at others, right in line.

Same with the gliders as they came round to make their landing approach

So you take 41 images (-20 till +20) and compare them in lightroom or DPP (DPP shows the MFA value I found out).
did try something similar but did not see very little difference, I think I used the wrong subject (traffic sign) to do this test.

Do you see much difference IQ wise between 500mm and 600mm?

anyway thanks for your help, this weekend I try again.

Regards
Antwan

It's not easy. I found the same as you - many times the shots show little change...
What I did do was take Live View images as well, and compare them against that - the LV image should be correctly focused as it requires no MFA.
So the LV image was my benchmark.
Then I took images at the extremes +/-20, then +/-15, then +/-10, and so on until I narrowed it in...

very nice, creates some "being in the action" effect.

Used the lens for spying on the new neighbors that moved in.

The husband is a bit aloof, and around from time to time.

The wife is pretty quiet and keeps to herself

The comparison on many minds is "which is better" - the Tamron or Sigma C?

Bryan does a comparison below and says the two are really quite similar and both have advantages. When the question is pushed, he does slightly suggest one over the other since shooting at 600mm is typical of these lenses. I'll let you read for yourself -? ;-)a

Sadly he omitted any mention of the SIGMA OS vs the Tamron VC, which is a weak point in the Tamron IMHO.

Perhaps he will give it mention in the official "C" review

I'm sure you are aware that there is a firmware update that is supposed to correct the panning issue.

While quite a few have apparently sent their lenses in I haven't seen any reports yet of results after the firmware update.

I thought that was for the Sport...
I thought the "C" FW was still the original release. I'm mistaken?

I'll check with my Sigma Dock next time I have it connected...

Correct, sorry, should have been more clear especially since this is the Sigma thread.
