WOW! I was already mad that I have been lusting after a 120-300 2.8 but these 150-600 shots have me wanting to sell some organs :(

lolol Don't sell any organs...just get the 120-300 2.8 and a TC and you'll be cleaning my clock! I want that lens SO bad I could scream. It was just $1600 too much. :(

Great shot, really sharp! What lens was that with?

i used the sigma 120-300mm sport with a 2x tc on.

Maybe i have a bum 2x tc. but i think the the iq of the sigma 150-600mm sport is better wide open then my 120-300mm with a 2x on at 600mm.

I'm not complaining about the IQ from the Sigzilla. ;)

You might have a bad one. I know there is a synergy between a TC and a lens. When the TC is good with the 120-300 you get a 5.6 600mm beast. Plus a 2.8 300mm monster for any kind of sports etc... win win!

as good as the 120-300 is, any 2.0 tc is going to degrade quality. However, for the exact flexibility you mention I don't think I'll be adding a 150-600 to my kit. certainly not to replace the 120-300. Mine seems to play well with my Sigma tc's with little discernable IQ or AF degradation

There is a member here, Gabe, who had the 120-300. (He has since sold it) I think he used to use TCs with his, and he was able to produce the most phenomenal shots I've seen with the combo. I'll have to go back and look it up. But I'd be thrilled to get that performance with that lens and TC combo. :)

yeah Gabe has sold his to CDS as a matter of fact. He bought a 150-600 (can't remember which one exactly). With his 120-300 he tried pretty much all of the 2.0 tc's and settled on the Sigma TC as he felt it matched the lens a little bit better than the others. His post processing too was a not insignificant factor in how spectacular his finished products looked

Not having used Nikon before, just got a Nikon D5200 to experiment with, so far I like it. Took some simple shots.
