Cool. The ones with just the sky as the background don't really do much for me but the 2nd one I really like. The green board just pops and the guy the in background, while out of focus just provides other layer of action for me.

Thanks Moose, and I totally agree - I too like having something in the background as it gives the image a sense of scale and depth which also gives merit to just how high these guys (and gals) fly. Interestingly, that second shot is likely getting printed this week - it looks killer full screen as you said, that green board just pops, and there's great detail in the water cascading across the surface of it, though hard to see in these reduced shots. The shots without background were when the were launching very close to my vantage point, and couldn't pass up filling the frame and getting a bit more detail than the further away shots that did have some background interest. The gallery on my website with all the images from the day is here for your interest: http://www.greystokephoto.com/p264667377 (external link)

Excellent shots Ken!

Love the expression on #3, looks like he is having quite a blast out there.

Thanks Robert! That guy's crazy fun - and flies like you wouldn't believe! I'm green with envy shooting them from below while they're up there having a blast. Maybe someday... :)

Great job, Ken! #2 is a winner, for me. I haven't seen your work in at least 1-2 years. You've come a long way. Keep it up! :)
