Down by our channel this morning I had at least three, if not four, river otter swim by, hunting. It was hard to keep track of them, so I'm not quite sure how many there were; I've seen as many as seven in one group once. They were hunting and fishing in the channel itself and along and into the cattails. They are formidable animals and I hope the loon nesting at the end of our bay didn't come to harm.

Thanks, everyone; I'm glad you enjoyed these. My home waters are supposedly great habitat for otters as the lake is drawn down in winter making air spaces under the ice along shore for them to live and hunt. I've seen as many as seven at one time.
