I'm not using mine, I bought it as a lightweight walk around but the AF kills me. A few weeks ago I was trying to set up my 7D for off camera flash using the pop up as a trigger. I was firing off the shutter not pointing at anything, just making sure the pop up flash wasn't contributing. When I went to delete the shots, I was surprised nearly every one was pin sharp. By contrast, the X Pro1 shots were a blurry mess. I put it back in its bag and it hasn't been out since ߘ

I do look in this thread, I really really like what your doing with yours. My two favourite pictures of my 2 year old daughter were taken with the XP1 though, when it nails focus I love it. Unfortunately it doesn't hit it often enough..........

Thanks.
Are you running the latest FW?
Because i havent experienced the blurry mess or focus issues. I come from a 60D and a 1D... And the AF is fine.

Hi.

Yes I have latest firmware, perhaps you could share how your XP1 is set up for your shooting style. Maybe I could learn something from that. I really want to love it, I just picked up a 16-35/4 for my 7D as a incentive to start using it again. It's a heavy bag now with 2/3 lens and a body V the Fuji 18/35 set up.
I bought the Fuji as I have a damage nerve in my back. I have had to take today ( Fri ) off sick as its flared up again. The weathers just broken and I was hoping to get out after work and shoot some seascape sunsets. Gona be stuck to sofa for the next week or so ߘ

Sorry to hear that, hope you get well soon.

First off, i shoot in M and been doing so for the past 7 years, even with 60D and 1D. I learned to take it slow and look for what i want to capture. M slows you down... no 6fps or P or A.

Secondly i adapt to my camera and lenses, i read the manual and try everything so that i know my cameras strenght and weakness.

Third, i learn what i can and cant focus on, you need contrast differences in your subject.

The AF speed is not the issue (unless it's fast moving objects) but locking the AF is...i have a few hit and miss here and there, but nothing that dident happen on my Canons with L lenses aswell.

My #1 tip is to never compare a camera, sure compare lenses, but instead learn to work with what you have at hand.

The X100 thread is fairly dead as well. Only a few of us posting. I'm almost of the opinion that all of the Fuji camera pic threads should be combined into one, with each post stating which camera the shot is from. At least that way we'd get more insight into the work other Fuji users are doing. Just my .02

I think Fuji need to put out the replacement for the XP1. The Sony threads are buzzing and seem to have all the interest at the moment. The Fuji sensor was exciting on release but hasn't kept up to speed with other brands since. For me, I just can't get used to the slow AF compared to my 7D which is old tech in itself these days. If I could use an intervalometer with it I may carry it with me in the car all the time, but even then, the batteries never seem to hold their charge for a few weeks and go flat quickly when you pull them out of the bag. Niggly things for sure, but added together start to spoil the Fuji experience.

Lots of people have bought into Fuji only to give it up, and lost a lot of money too. The bodies are worthless S/H due to Fuji offers with bodies and money off lens. I thought I had a steal paying about £1100 for my XP1 18/35, look at them now. Fuji has been a long time dragging the production out. If I was doing it again I would definitely have got the X100T..........

That said, I really enjoy looking at what everyone else is getting out of theirs.

So buy yourself an XT1 and with the firmware update in 3 days it will solve all your mentioned problems... and it has a built in intervalometer...less the battery issues. I would also argue people are abandoning every brand at probably the same rate ... ( you can't give the original "old" Sony A7 away ) as everyone knows the grass is always greener ....

Ok, I dug out my XP1 yesterday, had a few shots on my patio with my daughter and some flowers. This is quite a big crop, shot using manual focusing and peaking. I'm using Elements 11 @ present, I don't like it as I'm used to LR. I can't seem to find anything I want to make adjustments. I'll probably get Photoshop CC sometime in the next few weeks.

I'll take my XP1 out today and make an effort to use it more.
