mate it is so very hand holdable aye, like i am a very average sized dude and i have no problems shooting with it hours at a time just on my R strap

it does take some practice getting used to the weight and size to begin with, but now that i've had it for a while these days i don't even really notice the weight shooting with it :P

Most shots *there are more in this album (external link)) were shot @ 300mm or shorter because the next surfacing is very unpredictable and I find it very hard to find and focus on the suddenly appearing animal when using 600mm. Wonder how others are handling that....

to VK2WJ focus grabbing is a technique you really have to learn ,i have to do it with birds etc try to anticipate there next move ,having the correct settings in the lens helps the camera along as well but you really do need a camera thats a/f's quickly to ,the 1D series from canon i find are best ..the XX series are quiet a bit slower .

anyway heres two from yesterday with the lens and 70d ,i was trying to get a decent birds eye view .both shots hand held BTW.

my lad was with me with his nikon d810 and nikon 500mm f4 vr . and in all honesty he could not better the shots from this lens ,makes you wonder

Superb shots as always........

Since you have used Canon 70D,1D MkIII and 1d MKIV with the Siggy 150-600 Sports.....If you were to choose only one body, which one would it be...??

And between Canon & Nikon.....the entry level FF/FX bodies( and not the 1DXs and 3DSs)....have you seen the Nikon having any edge over the Canon ones..?? Although I am Canonian, but must admit atleast Nikon D750 rocks.

Photography my religion,World my Tabernacle.

Wow! Killer clarity especially for such distance! I don't even bother at those distances.
