Hi Not sure if this igoes under nature so if in wrong area admin please move as I cant delete


Taken over weekend outdoors and handheld with my new 5dsr body and 100-400 lens combo.....Taking a while to master it but getting there

for these kind of shots do you need to put a dark backdrop behind the flower? also using flash or natural light?

Based on the shadows.... It would appear that a flash was used, positioned to the upper left of the camera.

actually no flash,.........the actual backround was a dark shed interior sectioned by use of long telephoto and shallow DOF lens setting......The Orchid was growing in a pot on a table in partial sunlight outside the shed door....hence the sun shadow on some of the leaves. This was evened out by use of lightroom highlight and shadow brush controls witrh some spot corrections using the edit brush, Also some smoothing of background done and also some spotting to get rid of dust and small bits of waste that was stuck to leaves .
