Photo Ops near Omaha, NE

I am going to be traveling to Omaha in late August for business. I was hoping to take an extra day to get some photography in while I am there.

Anything "must see" near there, say within an hour?

I'm into landscapes, birds/wildlife, water falls and lighthouses. I am assuming there is not much for those last two,


Any suggestions?

Schramm Park, Holy Shrine, Heron Haven.

There is Linoma lighthouse on the Platte River. Omaha Zoo, Lauretzin Gardens.

I'll be sure to research those.

If you could put it off for a couple years, there will be a total eclipse nearby. Been making plans myself.

Yep, There's a lighthouse. I'm from the east coast, so I don't know the history behind it- I don't think the Platte is navigable there. This is from a plane.

There are a lot of trains, if you like those.

I chase the Whispering Giants sculpted all over the country. Google "whispering Giants". There is one in Lincoln at the Indian Center on Hayward Rd. Not the most majestic, but still interesting if you read the story. You may become addicted, too.
