I tried shooting the YL boat parade a couple of times. The past Christmas parades were at night, and it was near impossible to get good positioning for any kind of tripod due to the crowds. So not exactly ideal conditions.
I forget if the July 4th parade is a daytime or night time thing though.
Nighttime, I wouldn't bother taking a camera (from prior experience).
Daytime, take your most versatile zoom. These aren't going to be low-light artsy (bokeh) photos. You don't need a fast prime.

Great capture! I need to head back to ARTIC. The inclusion of fireworks in the composition make the whole thing perfect, IMO.
Was this 4th fireworks? Or Disney? (Seems a bit too close to be Disney based on my picturing the angle of view).

PS: duh! Must be Angel stadium. I totally forgot that was next door. Haha.

Thanks. It was September of 2014. I was setup just behind the Sherrif's facility on Katella (the river trail). The ARTIC project committee actually bought perpetual usage rights to the photo. I took it on the last "Big Bang Friday" of the year, so I had all the negotiating chips in my favor.

They are actually still using it on their website. You have to scroll through the slider a few to get to it. They also had it up on the Honda Center large digital billboard for several weeks. I was a proud dude. lol

That is awesome, man! Perpetual rights! One cannot be prouder when one's work is sought out like that. Seriously. Kudos.
