If it helps I'll but-in if that is OK. Compared to the 7DI the 7DII does seem to chew through the battery a bit faster despite the higher capacity standard issue battery.
It is early days for me, but first outing out I shot about 1300 images, mix of single shot (Low Burst but one shot at a time) and high speed bursts trying out the in-flight, both rates are on the factory defaults. This was about 30 Gb of data mostly on a CF card with some overspill onto the SD card.
The battery symbol was down to one bar, I didn't actually look at the status but I would guess it would say about 20% (Canon seem to have one bar down as about 50-60%).
I was shooting the Tamron 150-600 with the VR on for all except the in-flight testing. In normally shooting Like Jeff I tend to be heavy of keeping the AF and VR/IS refreshed with the back-button whilst waiting for the subject to give me the pose I want.
This seems better than the documented performance which is (manual p520) "670 shots at 23C" the equivalent 7DI spec is 800 shots.
NB the factory issue battery packs are:
7DI LP-E6 1800mAh
7DII LP-E6N 1865mAh
I would be ecstatic with 1300 per battery. I got 500 single shots on one charge. The other day taking photos of fireworks for about 20-25 minites, I shot live view long single exposures. I used 17% and got 113 images. I will have to keep monitoring.
