I heard many stories that mirror this. I've had it out with Gary "I'm on Sony Payroll" Fong about the nauseating misinformation he spreads about the camera's capabilities. I also shoot IMSA racing, and I don't want my camera to decide where it's focusing - I want to command exactly where at all times.

the metabones adapters are crap as far as AF.
The AF will be uselessly slow.
I made the switch from my 7D setup to the a6000. as far as the body goes it was a great body but its a great setup if your shooting hings that dont need much tele. I went back to canon as I wouldnt pay 1500bucks for a 70-200f4 for the sony. The a6000 will be a fantastic setup once they make some good long lenses for them and zooms faster then f4. Hopefully some 3rd party like Sigma add to it. As for now I would advise against it especially if you want to use an overpriced adapter that makes AF so useless might as well get a MF adapter

I use an a6000 along with my Canon 5D3 for a few high school and some minor league sports. The Sony usually has a 50mm 1.8 on it. I have never had a problem with the AF. Granted I only use single point focus but I love the 11fps. As others have stated, not much in the long lens range but that isn't what I use it for. If you look for used glass you can find a 70-200 f/4 around $1100. I sold my 7D after getting the Sony and I have no regrets . Will I give up my DSLR for mirrorless in my sports photography, not now but I do love the combo.

Did you ever try any of the EF lenses via adapter? Thanks for posting the photos.

No because it would be manual focus. I can only see using that set up for a soccer goal camera remote or behind the basketball goal remote. I like using the a6000 for the action shots that are close to me when I'm using the 400mm and the action is to close for it. Also getting celebration shots or players on the bench, and coaches emotions.
The a6000 is a great little camera but it isn't a camera for your main use in sports photography. I do use it for my team and individual sports pictures. I can put it and my lights all in one bag that is light and portable.

the a6000 w/ the 70-200/4 FE lens shines for sports and the AF keeps up w/ the frame rate.

Although the Metabones IV is the leading adapter for Canon EF lenses to A6000, there are limitations of the Canon lenses that can be used. That is also true of 3rd party lenses that will not work with this adapter where AF functions, and F stops do not operate or register on the A6000. I really enjoy using the A6000 for events where I am a guest, and I want to be discrete; think weddings, birthdays, dinner parties etc. I really like the picture quality (can you say "dynamic range"), and the camera has some quirky menus, and functions take awhile to get used to, but Sony is breaking away from conventional systems and the conversations about the capabilities of their cameras is nothing but a good thing for Sony in particular, and the industry in general. I have the Canon MK IV, but I am still trying out the A6000 with my Canon lenses to test its limitations.
