Hi guys! I'd love to get the Batis, but I can't squeeze it into the budget.

Anyone have any experience with either adapter, particularly with a Canon 85mm f/1.8 (mounted to an A7II).

I really love the 85mm for portraits and already have an excellent sharp copy. My usage is for indoor, candid/semi-posed portraits, not for anything fast-moving.

Thanks for sharing!

- Sergio

I had the Canon 85 1.8 with fotodiox adapter, while the adapter is excellent the lens is slowwwww to focus so it would be best to manually focus. I actually sold my my canon and bought the batis, so I have the adapter just laying around now.

@ndrr13 thanks for the feedback!

I found this video on YouTube of a Commlite adapter with an 85mm f1.8: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWfmRwRC94g (external link)

Was your experience better or worse than this example?

It's interesting, I have the commlite adapter on my A7R and it's slow as molasses.
I just want it for walking around town and it sometimes takes 4-5 seconds to get focus and sometimes it never gets in focus at all (24-105)

Flip a coin, they're pretty much the same. I would wait until the Chinese translucent mirror EF to E adapter is out (forget which brand it is) if you care about fast AF.

Whichever one you get you'll need to flock the inside of it to prevent flares.

Sergio... Like EverydayGetaway said they're pretty much the same. I found myself self switching to manual focus a lot because it was faster to focus with focus peaking.

Thanks for all the advice.

Since my budget says I'm at least 6-8 months away from a Batis 85mm, I'm going to give the Fotodiox a try.

Interesting! I've never heard anything about this. Any links to articles or info?

Wow, I wonder if this will greatly increase the speed for the A7, A7R, A7II, and A7S

The guy who writes for Sony Rumors is horrible about the way he words things, but this adapter adds phase detect AF via a translucent mirror, so yes, it should greatly improve the AF on any E mount body, just like the LA-EA4 adapter.

Just got a fotodiox for my A6000 , its really slow focus, keeps hunting. Manual is okay. But sometimes i need a auto focus to get a good shot of my 2 year old girl.

No current adaptor will give you fast focus with canon lenses on the a6000. Not even metabones.
