Long exposure at 37,000ft.
It's slightly blurry but with a bit of sharpen in post, it looks decently sharp.

What a fantastic shot! Can you explain what was going on in it? You were in a plane...what were the lights below? A city? Just a totally unique shot and viewing experience!

Sure. Here, the camera is laying on the "glareshield" of a Boeing 737, up front in the cockpit.
We have plenty of time to get bored in long cruises so I took many of these long exposures to try and make a timelapse.
I will upload it when I have enough footage. I took 90 shots of 5 seconds each (at 10,000 ISO), it doesn't quite look as good but it's good enough for this 3-second video.

With the naked eye, while we can clearly see the cities and smaller towns from high altitudes, we could barely find the milky way.
The 25 sec exposure made it possible and even the smallest villages left vivid trails in the photo.
Right in the middle of the frame, just under the horizon is the city of Toulouse, France. At this point, it is about 200 miles away.
I took many pictures after this one but Toulouse appeared way too bright with the long exposure combined with high ISO and bright aperture.

There are also three green points in the lower right part of the frame.
We were hit three times by a laser being shone from the ground, as the aircraft moved 5 miles during the entire shot, the three green points appear to be dissociated. They are in fact at the same location, only we traveled a few miles between each "hit".

Wow! That's amazing! It's incredible at how little vibration is seen in the shot!

What is the deal with the green lasers?

Decided to take the 14 out for a walk yesterday.

Big difference in price and convenience. While the 16-35 f4 L IS is a great travel lens, the Rokinon or whichever 14mm is faster for evening and night use and the 2 extra millimeters do count. I have them both.
