It took some lovely shots. But, required me to get it focused.

Time to upgrade. For the price of repair, you can probably buy a used one that works anyway.

Agreed. The price of the 7D and 5d2 have been falling steadily - great value there.

My T1i had condensation damage... Was out in high heat many hours, came into car, by the time I got home camera wouldn't turn on at all. I did the dry out thing for several days! Didn't work... Well, parts of it turned on.

I shipped it to service center... Week later, voila.. Back home, covered under warranty.

Might give it a shot if still under warranty I would suggest. They'll fix it free of charge or tell you how much it will cost to fix..then decide if it's better to just get another camera.

Then be sure to go the extra mile... Put it in a plastic bag and seal it fore you come n from the heat ( or come in from the cold) and you'll be fine.

Ended up getting the 7D Mark II tonight. Now, to learn a new camera :) The other one won't even take pics at this time. Will let it air out a few weeks and maybe send it to the shop as a backup if not too expensive to fix.

OH DARN WHAT A TERRIBLE SITUATION. You'll be amazed, just don't get too intimidated by the learning curve. Come join the 7D2 owners thread for occasional advice and LOTS and LOTS of bird pics.

I can't help but feel this post was a setup. You seemed concerned about your T2i, but inside, you were wanting to buy a 7Dii anyway. You just wanted us to tell you to buy something else. You used this as an excuse to justify this purchase to yourself or your significant other! Am I close?! lol

Will so! And yes, the learning curve is a bit intimidating, but I'm heading into it at full speed.

LOL! :-P No. Wasn't a setup. Loved my T2i. But it appears to be dead and yeah, it was about time for another upgrade :)

I know! Most sellers on CL don't do research and value their camera at the price they paid new! I was looking to buy something older just to use when I may be at a high risk of damaging or losing the camera, but not on CL!

It's actually pretty smart because people will still pay those high prices on there. My friend just sold his body only 60D for $1,200 om craigslist. Where if he put i on ebay he'd be lucky to get $400.

An item is worth what people are willing to pay for it. There's some cameras that dont drop any value when used so why should digital SLRs be the same? It's us driving the prices down.

$1200 for a used 60D? I paid under $1k for my new 70D with 18-55. That's insane!

There is more than sucker going on here. In order to get $1,200 for a 60, someone had to price it at that level. Not too many folks respond to an ad asking for $500 with, "Will you take $1,200?" Still, Buyer Beware, I suppose.
