550D Still good now?

Yes, why not.
It is my everyday camera but i have used it in jobs as well. Since i had the the 5d2 i had it as a back up for years just in case. Now i own the 5d3 and the mk2 has become my back up. But i still use 550d on a regular basis..

Definitely agreed. Although, I believe you mean PQ SUFFERS above 800? (Vs focus and speed.)

Personally I try to stay away from 800 or above w my rebel.

Yes, exactly, Image Quality on a rebel above 800 iso does fall down a bit.

Although that doesn't matter too much if you are going to use flash, and know how to use it well.

and the Rebels don't focus as well as more advanced models in low light. 6D center point does well, and camera does well at high iso too

I had a T1i (500d) that was my first digital and I have used it to shoot motorsports for the last 4 years. I was deciding what to upgrade to and was looking at the 70d.

I decided to go with the new T6s as it looked to fit my needs as well as the 70d and has the benefits of a newer sensor and autofocus. Just have used it a couple weeks, but happy so far.

I got great results with my T1i by the way
