Well, here's one of the first images taken with my new a7rII. Boring, yes, I know but I wanted to shoot something I was familiar with shooting with the same lens mounted on my a7r. I'm in the process of changing settings on the new camera to act like the old as a baseline and then I'll tweak to my liking from there.

This was shot using AF C, small flexible spot. It focused very quickly and accurately. My very first shots were off a little because the camera was set to wide area focus by default and focused on the flower because it was closest.

I think the new AF is definitely a winner, especially for FE lenses. Your dog looks like a good test for fast AF. :-)

Really nice Carlo. I'm curious, do you find the a7rII exposes to the right a bit? Mine seems to, or at least that's my initial impression. It's not a problem since I can either adjust in post or use a bit of negative Ev.

Terrific samples guys. Gene, man that 90 macro is sharp!

How is the silent shutter? I'm sure that's useful for macro of wildlife too.

Thanks. I haven't even tried the silent shutter feature yet. It's amazingly quiet right out of the box.

I was reaaaally impressed with how quiet the 'standard' shutter noise is.. it's like a baby chirp compared the CLICK-CLACK of the a7r.

The silent shutter is silent, just like on the a7s.. not much to report there, you literally hear nothing.

Thanks Gene.

I hadn't noticed that it exposes to the right, but you might be right as I usually push the exposure compensation up 1 stop for personal taste, but found that I kept it at zero for most of the day.

How does the AF speed with third-party lenses compare with the same lenses on a Canon body? Faster than a 5D2? 6D? How close to a 5D3? No doubt accuracy will be very good.
