Thanks. I can't quite put my finger on it but this is one of those images that I constantly think should be consigned to the bin because it sort of looks out of kilter and then I change my mind............again

Well, airfrog and I both like it, so it must have something going for it.

Composition. There's no center of interest. Ordinarily that'd be a fault, but it isn't one here. The object of greatest attention, initially, is the cross, for symbolic reasons and because it's lighter than its surroundings and it's made of straight lines. But it's almost at the edge! OMG, it broke a rule! If that isn't bad enough, the cross is facing out of the picture! Ooh, this image is in bad trouble now! And look at all the crooked things standing at skewed angles!

I get why you're ambivalent about it. What's important, though, is that my gaze stays inside it and keeps going around. Those skewed angles really work.

Thanks for that. The original was taken in pouring rain and underexposed but I guess what I visualised when I took it, must have had something to keep me hanging on, otherwise it would have gone to recycling, although I couldn't quantify what that something was. You have helped me think as to why I hung on to it.
