Sorry to hear about the passing of your cat Paul, I know how you must feel and my thoughts are with you. We have a 15 year old tabby, Oscar, who has liver problems and fear it won't be long before his time is up. We also have 6 year old Rosie, a tabby, and 18 month old Poppy, black and white - both real characters. Whilst the new kitten will never replace Tipsy I'm sure he'll give you plenty of joy and happiness.

Tipsy, at 15½ years old, our wonderful (if psychotic) cat had to leave us - I think kidney failure was the main reason.

Sad event, affects us all in the household (tears in my eyes as I type this)...

I knew before going to work that the tickle to his ears would be the last time for me, and sure enough Gill informed me he had gone with Gill and Rachel being there for him.

The best medicine is to remember him fondly of course, but to look to the future so I told the wife & daughter to go and find a new family member, and after a few hours looking they found the new Tipsy, who we have called Bilbo (Baggins) and he is settling in nicely and being a typically mischievous kitten.

This is the last photo of our Tipsy with Rachel, and the first photos of our new puddytat...

Sorry for your loss Paul, our pets are like family members so I know how hard it can be. Looks like your knew kitten might keep busy tho!

Just made a little quick JPEG test

First one is JPEG SOOC

IMAGE: http://i.imgur.com/nzI0Olo.jpg

Second one is RAW, no editing done. Only resized and exported from LR.
IMAGE: http://i.imgur.com/BfTJzCh.jpg

Quite a difference. The WB seems to be different and more accurate on the raw.

Thanks all. The kitten is already proving to be a typical little beggar, into all crooks and crannies and knocking things over for fun!

Paul.

Paul.

Paul,

My best to you and your family. I just lost my little quaker parrot, who was my buddy for 24 years, so I can imagine how you guys are feeling. Cute new little one who, although he will never replace Tipsy, will create new cherished memories!!

Haven't had anything to post in quite a while, cause I've been shooting mostly with Fuji X (blasphemy!!!), but I've been keeping a close eye on everyone's great work with the 70D! I finally had a chance to spend some time with the Sigma 150-600 Sport, which means I finally have some images to share. All taken with the Sigma 150-600, and all hand held (except the bridge pilings).

Very lucky to catch this natural light:

Little later in the morning. Obviously not a lot of great subjects, but these guys were willing!

IMAGE: https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5664/20771145215_86ce94a866_b.jpg

I think this lens is acceptably sharp:

IMAGE: https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5703/20771121385_bda155d2d2_b.jpg

Using the telephoto compression effect:

IMAGE: https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5815/20585992818_19dc9726c2_b.jpg

The egrets were really past the limits of the lens distance wise. The first one was salvageable, but I had to go artistic on the second because there was no way it would cut it technically.

Ok, a little PP on this one (did I mention this lens is acceptably sharp?):

its no understatement that they can be considered a part of the family. My condolences Paul.

My Zeus is like a son to me so that will be a tough future time, but still making good memories and photos

Enjoy the kitten - play lots and snap oodles of pics. As a boy, my dad would be amused for a whole afternoon, he tells me, with a piece of string and his cat. Fun old-school.

Thanks all. It was tough of course.

But Bilbo is a handful and every bit as adorable as you would expect a kitten to be :)

Reminds me of when my beloved border collie Chip died last year, but got a puppy, and while he doesn't replace Chip I've certainly had heaps of fun with him. And he is so loving too.

happy Saturday gang - amazing pics being showcased daily on here. I seem to only get out 1 or 2 times a week and that is weather permitting.

A few snaps from this morning. was using a 400 shuter speed on the swans and decided to snap this goose coming in for a landing - obvious motion blur so I made it artzy :p
